LA CARNITA

CAMPAIGN

La Carnita is a Mexican restaurant and bar chain located in downtown Toronto. The challenge facing La Carnita is that there is a lot of competition when it comes to Mexican cuisine. This carries the need for La Carnita to stand out from the pack. In order to do that, advertising with the ability to catch people's attention is is essential.

Since their inauguration, La Carnita has firmly established itself with artwork. When they were still just a travelling pop-up restaurant, La Carnita differentiated themselves from the competition by selling Mexican street art as well as two free tacos included with the purchase. The restaurant chain’s strong influence on art can even be traced back to the owners’ previous occupations. Andrew Richmond, co-owner of La Carnita, left his graphic design job to open the first restaurant back in 2012.

For this campaign, the art influence isn't limited to the Mexican street style that helped establish what La Carnita is today. Instead, it takes on famous art pieces that are universally recognizable, even by a community as multi-cultural as Toronto, while still maintaining the vandalistic qualities that give street art it's allure.
